Gifted & Talented (GT) at Pershing Middle School

At Pershing Middle School, we are committed to challenging, inspiring, and empowering our Gifted & Talented students through rigorous academics and meaningful learning experiences. As one of Houston ISD's premier middle schools, we offer a wide variety of advanced coursework designed to prepare students for success in high school, college, and beyond.

A few of our advanced academic offerings include Biology, Geometry, AP Spanish, Advanced English Language Arts, and Advanced Social Studies, providing students with opportunities to think critically, solve complex problems, and engage in higher-level learning every day.

Our Public Speaking course further enhances the GT experience by developing confident communicators, effective leaders, and creative thinkers. Students strengthen their presentation skills, collaboration, persuasive communication, and real-world leadership abilities ...essential skills that support success in advanced academics and future careers.

Pershing is also proud to be one of the top-performing middle schools in Houston ISD for Biology Master's level achievement, demonstrating our commitment to academic excellence and high expectations for every student.

Learning at Pershing extends beyond the classroom. Our annual 8th Grade Camping Trip provides students with an unforgettable opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and independence through hands-on outdoor experiences. While this signature experience is open to all 8th-grade students, it is especially valuable for extending the learning and growth our GT students experience throughout the school year.
